Again, as usual for Riflessifotografici, we took it easy...very easy. A bit too much perhaps, but our usual followers got used of our slowliness being aware that after all the waiting the final review will give a complete overview of the camera based on facts rather than on quick impressions
The Fujifilm X20, since the official announcement, created a great interest among the X10 owners as well as the new potential buyers, aware of the qualities of its predecessor.A spasmodic waiting, amplified by the innovations introduced by Fuji to improve the performances of a camera that should be considered a milestone in the compact cameras history. A compact camera, we would like to remember to all the readers. We remember this because we have often seen people have expectations that cannot be matched by a compact camera. There's no way a compact camera like the X20 (or the X10 for that matter) can compete with a DSLR, and this has never been the target of this camera. This is obvious if you think about the general performances and above all, the image quality that can be reached by devices costing 10 times the price, or equipped with Full Frame sensors that easily dwarfs the new X-Trans sensor of the X20. You have to fully understand the philosophy behind this camera to buy it and to get the best from it because, in the end, the X20 produces great pictures and this is what really matters.

Quant’è un centimetro? Un centimetro è una misura che può essere irrisoria o incolmabile.
La sintesi della Sony RX1 è tutta racchiusa in questo centimetro in meno. Per alcuni sarà irrisoria per altri una mancanza incolmabile.
Ma perché questo centimetro assume così tanta importanza tanto da entrare nel titolo e nell’apertura della recensione della RX1.

Partiamo dall’inizio.
La Sony entra nel mercato delle compatte con ottica fissa con una macchina fotografica con sensore “FullFrame” accoppiato a un obiettivo di grande pregio, oltre che di grande fascino: lo Zeiss Sonnar T 35mm f/2.
Un vero terremoto in un segmento standardizzato su sensori Apsc e relative ottiche “decurtate” per ottenere l’angolo di campo desiderato. Segmento che amo tantissimo e a cui Riflessifotografici.com ha dedicato numerose recensioni, anche comparative.
Le prime voci che si sono alzate al momento dell’annuncio sono state:
“Wow… fantastico… sensore FullFrame e Zeiss 35mm”
“Wow… esagerati… 3.000 Euro per una compatta”
Dov’è la verità? La Sony RX1 è realmente la nuova regina del segmento o il prezzo è troppo elevato in base alle possibilità offerte da questo strumento fotografico? Cerchiamo di scoprirlo.

Introduction
How big is a centimeter? It is a measure that may be negligible or just too big. The new Sony Rx1 is all about that missing centimeter.
Some will consider it a negligible shortcoming, others will think that is an insuperable distance.
Why that centimeter becomes so important to earn a spot in the opening title?
Let's start from the beginning.
Sony enters the "Single Focal Lenght Compact Camera" market with a "Full Frame" sensor coupled with a prestigiuos and charming lens: the Zeiss Sonnat T 35mm F2.
A real earthquake for a segment tipically based on APSC sensor cameras and focal lenghts "cropped" to obtain the desired field of view. A segment I really love and highly explored in our reviews here in Riflessifotografici.com. The first exclamations, when it was originally announced, were:
"WOW...great...a full frame sensor and a 35mm Zeiss Lens!"
"WOW...exagerated... 3.000 Euros for a compact camera?"
But where's the truth? The new RX1 is really the new queen of the segment or the price is too high compared to what the camera offers?
Let's try to find out.

In occasione della tappa di Bari del Fujifilm eXperience tour abbiamo iniziato a prendere confidenza con il nuovo zoom della Fujinon.
Per ora abbiamo fatto solo pochi scatti approfittando del set e delle modelle presenti per l'occasione.
Troppo poco per capire qualcosa di questo obiettivo. Ma ci stiamo lavorando sopra per poter riportare le nostre prime impressione su queste pagine.
Oltre a scattare qualche foto abbiamo anche stampato le immagini realizzate per avere un primo elemento dei tanti che andranno a comporre il giudizio finale.

During the Bari's stage of Fujifilm's eXperience tour we had the chance to start using the new zoom produced by Fujinon.
As of now we had the opportunity to take only few shots, taking advantage of the models and the set.
Of course it is not enough to deeply understand this new lens. But we're working on it, in order to report our first impressions on these pages.
We also had the chance to print the shots taken with the new zoom, in order to have one of the many elements that will contribute to the final conclusions.

Fujifilm X20: first impressions
Here we are... this time even before the official arrival of the product on sellers' shelves (not for this translation though). But, you know, we don't like to make things on a rush. Thus, these are only the very first impressions. First impressions that didn't prevent us to discover the first certainties, compared to the previous models. X20 and X100s can't be quickly described with few photos and some row, as many are used to. Both products, despite the only minor aesthetical changes, deeply rewrite the way Fuji interprets this two models, and also the way fuji sees their respective market segments.
But many were waiting to know better this two photographic tools and so we couldn’t wait. To wait could also mean to see the first flames on the web, as it usually happens at each new product launch. Flames and urban legends that may live due to the quickie "definitive reviews" based on few dozens of pictures, on pre-production models. The last urban legend says that the distribution of the new Fujis have been delayed due to some unknown and mysterious problem. Reality is far different. Reality is that this time Fuji wants to deliver to its own buyers a mature and polished product and decided to use all the scheduled time.
Unfortunately some vendors, in the rush to stockpile pre-orders, anticipate the official release date. X20 and X100 were scheduled to be released between mid and the end of march...and between mid and the end of march they will become available.
If some model somehow is out of this pattern and has a non definitive firmware, a simple update will be enough to have all the features available in the official release. And the official release firmware is the one that runs the two cameras we started to shoot with, to write the first impressions, starting with the X20 and Donato Chirulli's photographic skills.

Identical, they're damn identical...i get confused, I accidentally use one rather than the other. But, while I’m shooting I become suddenly aware of the mistake. It has never happened to me to identify so easily a camera with my eye in the viewfinder. Yes...X100 and X100s seem identical. Minor aesthetical differences, and a slighly different button layout on the back can reveal that they’re not the same camera.
Quattro passi (di Street Photography) con Leica D-Lux 6

In questo periodo, abbiamo a disposizione una Leica D-Lux 6 per realizzare un importante reportage. Ne abbiamo naturalmente approfittato per un approfondito test da pubblicare in queste pagine. Ma, siamo solo all'inizio e, come da tradizione di riflessifotografici, ce la prendiamo con molta calma. Tanto per cominciare, dato che avevamo pur sempre tra le mani una fotocamera che porta su di se il magico bollino rosso della casa di Solms, abbiamo pensato di proporvi un primo "assaggio" di Street Photography realizzato per le vie di Roma.
Vorremmo approfittare dell'occasione per chiarire meglio il concetto di "Street Photography", dato che ci capita purtroppo di vedere quotidianamente (specie sui social networks) quanto questo concetto sia male interpretato. Non basta fotografare.... in mezzo alla strada, non basta.... buttare lì qualche persona o silhoutte insignificante, disposta in modo altrettanto insignificante sul fotogramma, non basta fare del b/n....cattivo o della post-produzione esasperata..... per dire di aver fatto Street e definirsi pomposamente "Street Photographers" o..... "Strephers". No, ci vuole molto, molto di più: bisogna avere un reale interesse per gli esseri umani, la capacità di entrare in sintonia con la loro vita quotidiana per le strade del mondo in cui vivono, bisogna esser capaci di vedere i loro gesti, le loro espressioni, ed attraverso questi interpretare i loro stati d'animo. Gioia, tristezza, stupore, noia, curiosità, solitudine, paura...
Fujifilm X100s: Prime Impressioni
Eccoci qui… questa volta ancora prima della commercializzazione di un prodotto. Ma lo sapete. A noi non piacciono le cose fatte in fretta.
Quindi sono solo prime impressioni. Prime impressioni che non ci hanno impedito di riscontrare le prime certezze rispetto ai modelli precedenti. X20 e X100s non possono essere liquidate con poche foto e qualche riga come fanno in molti.
Sono prodotti che, contrariamente ad un’estetica quasi immutata, riscrivono profondamente l’interpretazione di Fujifilm di questi due modelli e dei rispettivi segmenti di mercato.
Ma in molti aspettano di conoscere maggiormente questi strumenti fotografici e di conseguenza, non potevamo più aspettare.
Aspettare che significava anche prestare il fianco ai primi flame sul web che come sempre accompagnano l’uscita di un nuovo modello.
Flame e leggende metropolitane che trovano alimento per colpa delle raffazzonate “recensioni definitive” basate su qualche decina di scatti su strumenti di Pre-Serie. L’ultima leggenda metropolitana racconta che le nuove Fujifilm hanno subito un ritardo nella distribuzione per colpa di chi sa quale fantomatico problema. La realtà è ben differente.
La realtà è che questa volta Fujifilm vuole fornire un prodotto maturo ai propri clienti. E si prende tutto il tempo che aveva programmato.
Purtroppo sono alcuni venditori della rete che, per accaparrarsi qualche pre-ordine in più, anticipano la data ufficiale. Le X20 e le X100s erano programmate in uscita per metà- fine marzo… e per metà-fine marzo saranno messe in vendita.
Se qualche modello è sfuggito a questa logica un firmware basterà ad aggiornare in tutte le funzionalità i nuovi modelli. Firmware con il quale sono equipaggiate le due macchine con le quali abbiamo iniziato a scattare e a scrivere le prime impressioni.

X100s Uguali sono maledettamente uguali… mi confondo mi sbaglio e scatto per sbaglio con l’una invece che con l’altra.
Ma mentre scatto mi accorgo subito dell’errore. Non mi era mai capitato di distinguere in maniera così immediata un modello di macchina fotografica quando ho già l’occhio incollato al mirino.
E già… X100 e X100s sono apparentemente due gocce d’acqua e solo minime differenze estetiche e di posizione dei tasti possono svelarne la diversità.
