The Art of Photography Blog è il mio nuovo blog dedicato alla fotografia. Fotografia che può essere un divertimento (come sottolineato spesso dal nostro Max Angeloni), una passione, ma anche una forma d'arte. Ed è a quest'ultimo aspetto che ho voluto dedicarmi nell'apertura di questo blog. Poche parole, nessun discorso tecnico, ma solo alcuni dei miei scatti che ritengo più interessanti. In seguito, pubblicherò alcune delle immagini che più mi sono piaciute in giro per il web. Quando poi il blog avrà un numero sufficiente di lettori, sceglierò settimanalmente alcuni degli scatti dei lettori stessi, che riterrò degni di essere pubblicati. The Art of Photography Blog is my new blog dedicated to photography. Photography can be  fun (as pointed out often by our MAx Angeloni), a passion, but also an art form. And it's about this aspect that I want to focus this blog. Simply put, no technical talk, but only some of my shots that I consider most interesting. Later, I will publish some of the images that I liked around the web. Then when the blog will have a sufficient number of readers, I will choose weekly some of the shots of  readers themselves, that I will feel worthy of being published. Anche questa volta, com'è ormai tradizione di Riflessifotografici, ce la siamo presa comoda... molto comoda, forse un po troppo, ma chi ci segue è ormai abituato ai nostri “ritardi”, consapevole che dopo tanta attesa, il test sarà sufficientemente completo per farsi un'opinione basata sui fatti e non su fugaci impressioni .

Again, as usual for Riflessifotografici, we took it easy...very easy. A bit too much perhaps, but our usual followers got used of our slowliness being aware that after all the waiting the final review will give a complete overview of the camera based on facts rather than on quick impressions. La Fujifilm X20, al suo annuncio, ha subito suscitato un notevole interesse, sia presso i possessori della ormai “storica” X10, sia da parte di nuovi possibili utilizzatori, attratti dalla giustificata fama della suddetta. Un'attesa spasmodica, amplificata dalle innovazioni introdotte da Fuji per migliorare le prestazioni di un modello che, in un certo senso, ha segnato una pietra miliare nel campo delle fotocamere compatte. Ecco, appunto, ricordiamo con forza ai nostri lettori che stiamo parlando di una compatta, per quanto evoluta, in quanto molto spesso ci è capitato di rilevare esagerate pretese rivolte verso questo modello che, per le sue caratteristiche intrinseche non può, e nemmeno vuole, sostituirsi ad una fotocamera reflex. Almeno non dal punto di vista prestazionale e degli altissimi livelli qualitativi d'immagine che è possibile produrre con attrezzature che costano magari dieci volte tanto, o possiedono sensori Full Frame, rispetto ai quali il povero sensore X-Trans della X20 sembra un nano posto di fronte ad un gigante. Bisogna comprendere appieno la filosofia di questa macchina, per sceglierla, come per utilizzarla al meglio perché, ed è questo che conta, la X20 fa ottime fotografie.

E' con vero piacere (e malcelato orgoglio), che informiamo i nostri affezionati lettori, di un altro successo di portata internazionale di un membro dello staff di Riflessifotografici. Un'ulteriore prova, se mai ce ne fosse ancora bisogno, che in questo portale non si fanno sterili test tecnici, conditi da quattro scatti di gatti, vasi di fiori e banali panorami ripresi sempre fuori dalla stessa finestra. Qui, al contrario, ci sono persone che dedicano quotidianamente la loro vita alla fotografia; esplorando i più diversi generi, sia seguendo le proprie personali aspirazioni artistico/espressive, sia soddisfacendo le differenti richieste dei committenti nei lavori professionali. Ciò ci permette di fornire ai lettori impressioni d'uso dettate dall'utilizzo reale (pesante e diversificato) dei mezzi fotografici di cui parliamo nei nostri test. E questo, se permettete, è il nostro vero punto di forza, il nostro fiore all'occhiello.

Introduzione / Introduction
Quant’è un centimetro? Un centimetro è una misura che può essere irrisoria o incolmabile.
La sintesi della Sony RX1 è tutta racchiusa in questo centimetro in meno. Per alcuni sarà irrisoria per altri una mancanza incolmabile.
Ma perché questo centimetro assume così tanta importanza tanto da entrare nel titolo e nell’apertura della recensione della RX1.

How big is a centimeter?  It is a measure that may be negligible or just too big.
The new Sony Rx1 is all about that missing centimeter. Some will consider it a negligible shortcoming, others will think that is an insuperable distance.

Partiamo dall’inizio.
La Sony entra nel mercato delle compatte con ottica fissa con una macchina fotografica con sensore “FullFrame” accoppiato a un obiettivo di grande pregio, oltre che di grande fascino: lo Zeiss Sonnar T 35mm f/2.
Un vero terremoto in un segmento standardizzato su sensori Apsc e relative ottiche “decurtate” per ottenere l’angolo di campo desiderato. Segmento che amo tantissimo e a cui Riflessifotografici.com ha dedicato numerose recensioni, anche comparative.
Le prime voci che si sono alzate al momento dell’annuncio sono state:
“Wow… fantastico… sensore FullFrame e Zeiss 35mm”
“Wow… esagerati… 3.000 Euro per una compatta”
Dov’è la verità? La Sony RX1 è realmente la nuova regina del segmento o il prezzo è troppo elevato in base alle possibilità offerte da questo strumento fotografico? Cerchiamo di scoprirlo.

In occasione della tappa di Bari del Fujifilm eXperience tour abbiamo iniziato a prendere confidenza con il nuovo zoom della Fujinon.
Per ora abbiamo fatto solo pochi scatti approfittando del set e delle modelle presenti per l'occasione.
Troppo poco per capire qualcosa di questo obiettivo. Ma ci stiamo lavorando sopra per poter riportare le nostre prime impressione su queste pagine.

Oltre a scattare qualche foto abbiamo anche stampato le immagini realizzate per avere un primo elemento dei tanti che andranno a comporre il giudizio finale.

Un ringraziamento doveroso a Fujifilm Italia, Fproject Fiorito, Teresa Caputo, Mariangela Frascati.

During the Bari's stage of Fujifilm's eXperience tour we had the chance to start using the new zoom produced by Fujinon.
As of now we had the opportunity to take only few shots, taking advantage of the models and the set.
Of course it is not enough to deeply understand this new lens. But we're working on it, in order to report our first impressions on these pages.

We also had the chance to print the shots taken with the new zoom, in order to have one of the many elements that will contribute to the final conclusions.

La scorsa settimana, Riflessifotografici si è...trasferita in blocco a Napoli, nell'ambito del Fujifilm eXperience tour. Mentre il buon Max Angeloni si dedicava all'insegnamento del glamour, il sottoscritto accompagnava i numerosi partecipanti nei suoi mini-workshop di Street Photography.....

Era la prima volta che visitavo (pur se brevemente) Napoli, e debbo dire che la città affascina e rapisce sin dal primo sguardo. Tanto si è scritto, cantato e fotografato in questa città incantata, eppure ancora ci si trova a sorprendersi. A Napoli i bambini ancora giocano a pallone per le strade del centro, come un tempo succedeva in ogni città. I ragazzi si baciano incuranti della folla, oppure ballano il rap nella Galleria Umberto. Il vecchio e il nuovo si mescolano e si fondono sino a diventare una cosa sola. La luce dipinge i contorni, dei luoghi e della gente, dei venditori nei quartieri spagnoli e dei "nuovi" venditori con la pelle scura.... e persino del nostro Max Angeloni, mentre immortala una di quelle scene che possono succedere solo qui: nella magia di Napoli.

La primavera è sinonimo di rinascita, cambiamento, novità. È con questo spirito che Riflessifotografici.com oggi inizia un nuovo cammino che lo porterà, entro l’inizio del prossimo autunno, ad un profondo rinnovamento. Ricordiamo che Riflessifotografici.com è un’iniziativa nata da appassionati di fotografia e della cultura fotografica. Non ha budget, non ha sponsor ed è scevro da imposizioni dovute a logiche commerciali. Quindi chiediamo perdono a chi ci segue se i tempi con i quali ci muoviamo risultano, a volte, lunghi e bene distanti dal frenetico agire della comunicazione moderna.  Oggi ci possiamo permettere solo piccoli passi.

Piccoli passi ma fondamentali come quello ha portato all’interno della nostra struttura l’amico Luca Petralia (bio). Il primo fondamentale contributo che ci ha dato è quello di rendere “internazionale” la nostra piccola realtà. Realtà fino ad oggi relegata ai soli utenti di lingua Italiana e ai pasticci di Google translate. Ovviamente l’impegno di Luca Petralia non sarà limitato alla sola traduzione dei principali articoli, ma anche alla stesura di nuovi articoli legati alle diverse tematiche fotografiche.

Bene… è primavera e le troppe chiacchiere danno noia. Iniziamo pertanto a pubblicare le versioni in Inglese le impressioni che abbiamo tratto dai primi giorni di impiego delle Fujifilm X20 e X100S.

Spring mean changes, rebirth, news. With this spirit Riflessifotografici.com begins today a new path that will lead us to a deep renewal within the beginning of the next fall. We would like to remember that Riflessifotografici.com is an initiative born from photography enthusiasts. We don't have any budget or sponsors and we're not subject to impositions coming from marketing choices. For this reason we apologize to our followers if the timing of our updates may result sometimes too long and far distant from the hectic uses of modern communication media.

As of now we can face only small steps. Small, but crucial, like the one that brought our friend Luca Petralia (bio) inside our staff. His first fundamental contribution he gave us is to let us become international, given that our site was Italian only and you had to rely on google translate to try to read it in english. Of course his effort won't be limited only to translations of the main topics, but will focus even on the production of new topics related to photography.

Well... it's spring and talking too much is boring. Let's begin with the translations of our first impressions taken from our first days with Fujifilm's X20 and X100S.

Here we are... this time even before the official arrival of the product on sellers' shelves (not for this translation though). But, you know, we don't like to make things on a rush. Thus, these are only the very first impressions. First impressions that didn't prevent us to discover the first certainties, compared to the previous models. X20 and X100s can't be quickly described with few photos and some row, as many are used to. Both products, despite the only minor aesthetical changes, deeply rewrite the way Fuji interprets this two models, and also the way fuji sees their respective market segments.
But many were waiting to know better this two photographic tools and so we couldn’t wait. To wait could also mean to see the first flames on the web, as it usually happens at each new product launch. Flames and urban legends that may live due to the quickie "definitive reviews" based on few dozens of pictures, on pre-production models. The last urban legend says that the distribution of the new Fujis have been delayed due to some unknown and mysterious problem. Reality is far different. Reality is that this time Fuji wants to deliver to its own buyers a mature and polished product and decided to use all the scheduled time.
Unfortunately some vendors, in the rush to stockpile pre-orders, anticipate the official release date. X20 and X100 were scheduled to be released between mid and the end of march...and between mid and the end of march they will become available.

If some model somehow is out of this pattern and has a non definitive firmware, a simple update will be enough to have all the features available in the official release. And the official release firmware is the one that runs the two cameras we started to shoot with, to write the first impressions, starting with the X20 and Donato Chirulli's photographic skills.

Identical, they're damn identical...i get confused, I accidentally use one rather than the other. But, while I’m shooting I become suddenly aware of the mistake. It has never happened to me to identify so easily a camera with my eye in the viewfinder. Yes...X100 and X100s seem identical. Minor aesthetical differences, and a slighly different button layout on the back can reveal that they’re not the same camera.
